With the astonishing work ethic of bees and people here at Ace blueberry farm, we do not need to spray pesticides. With research and the priority of our community's health, we've decided to go organic. So, why don't other farmers? Especially when it's harmful to the people eating the produce and the bees and other bugs keeping their plants alive? The most commonly used pesticide is Roundup, it is an easy way to get rid of bugs like mites, aphids, and beetles, etc. After landing on fruits and vegetables, that farmers have sprayed, bees bring the pesticides back to the hive on the collected pollen, killing the beehive, contaminating the honey and produce.
"Roundup is the most widely used pesticide worldwide, sprayed on everything from golf courses to home gardens. The chemical is mainly used in agriculture and sprayed on GMO crops like soy, corn, and cotton." -Bara Vaida. But that's not to say that it isn't sprayed on other crops.
Roundup has Glyphosate in it which is still being researched in its effect on humans but is thought to be carcinogenic. A carcinogen is any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that promotes carcinogenesis - the formation of cancer. Imagine not only breathing it in but also eating it. Aaron Blair is a Cancer researcher along with 17 other scientists for the National Cancer Institute and researcher on IARC. They've found in 3/4 people a link between Glyphosate and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, it's a Cancer for the Immune system. Though it's not especially common in farmers, we're still eating it. Even in animals near Roundup, there was a link between Glyphosate and a rare kidney and Pancreatic Cancer. Aaron Blair said it is a probable carcinogen.
At Ace blueberry farm we grow our blueberries organically with the help of mother nature, bees, and the amazing workers. With no use of pesticides, we can guarantee our blueberries are healthy and organic, perfect for your consumption.
